Prior to founding MERLIN, he worked at Garrigues, Bankers Trust REIB, DB Real Estate and RREEF, as Managing Director, having participated in transactions with a total volume of approximately 5,000 million euros in all types of real estate assets. These include the sale and leaseback of the Tree portfolio, the largest real estate transaction in Europe in 2009
Ismael has been CEO of MERLIN since its foundation
He holds superior degrees in Law and in Economics & Business Administration, with a specialisation in Finance, from ICADE (E-3) and is member of the Spanish Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI)

Prior to joining MERLIN in 2019 as a member of the management team, he worked at El Encinar del Norte, Gmp, Sociedad Azucarera Larios, (Salsa Inmobiliaria) and Infinorsa, as Director with financial and management responsibilities, mainly office buildings and other asset types
He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza and an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (IE)

David Martínez Montero has experience as a real estate professional since 1997.
Prior to joining MERLIN, he served as CEO of AEDAS Homes from 2016 to 2026, leading the creation and consolidation of the company as one of Spain’s leading residential developers. Previously, he held senior management positions at Distrito Castellana Norte, Valdebebas and Cuatro Torres Business Area, taking part in major urban transformation projects in Madrid.
He holds a MSc in Civil and Structural Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and an Executive MBA from IESE Business School.
