MERLIN Properties | 81 Sustainability advances in MERLIN’s portfolio MERLIN draws up its report on the environmental performance of its portfolio in strict compliance with the most up- to-date sustainability practices as per the EPRA Sustainability Best Practice Recommendations (3rd version, 2017) to ensure comparability with the data reported by other companies in the sector (1) . Environmental performance reporting in accordance with the EPRA Sustainability Best Practices Recommendations (sBPR)”. KEY ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE INDICATORS OF MERLIN’S PORTFOLIO (2) (1) The GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Standards are the starting point for the third and most recent edition of the EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association) sBPR Guidelines released in 2017. These recommendations are the world’s most important sustainability reporting standards, but since they are intended for a wide range of companies, they are general and all-encompassing in nature. Consequently, in some cases they do not address the specific characteristics of the real estate sector. Accordingly, the EPRA sBPR Guidelines provide very specific reporting criteria that sum up the requirements in the GRI Standards. Following the recommendations of the EPRA sBPR Guidelines, Appendix I includes a series of tables that provide a full breakdown of the portfolio’s environmental performance data.
