MERLIN Properties Annual Report 2021

8 | Annual Report | 2021 the Company and best market practices, seeking to align the interests of the Directors with those of the shareholders and other stakeholders, with MERLIN’s business objectives and long-term value creation in mind. The remuneration policy pursues business profitability, at the same time it defends a prudent risk management and stimulates Company’s sustainability in the long-term. Additionally, this year we have proposed the reappointment of nine of the thirteen directors of MERLIN Properties, including both executive directors, given the excellent work carried out by all of them to date, and their contribution to the improvement of the Company in all its aspects. Finally, we must point out that 2022 presents itself as a year of growth after having left behind the pandemic. The office portfolio will demonstrate its robustness and the shopping center portfolio, recently refurbished, will face a year of clear recovery. The future growth of the Company comes from the data center project and the expansion of the logistics footprint. Following the BBVA portfolio disposal, MERLIN faces the future with a significantly strenghtened balance sheet and with one of the lowest levels of indebtness of the sector. Once again, I want to thank the shareholders of MERLIN Properties for their confidence and support, without which none of this would be possible. Thank you very much.
